Misfits Grappling Club

Misfits Grappling Club delivers submission grappling and martial arts training at 3506 N. Casco Ave. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Situated on the north side of town near the Benson and Interstate 229 exit, the academy features twelve hundred square feet of mat space, providing classes under monthly membership rates with a complimentary first class for newcomers. Owner and head instructor Sawyer Buttweiler is a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu brown belt under Nate Kleinfeld out of 10th Planet St. Paul. Bringing over fifteen years of submission grappling experience, Buttweiler has captured twenty-three Submission Challenge championships in South Dakota across weight and open divisions, and has conducted grappling seminars internationally in Vietnam, Quebec, and the Bahamas. Class instructor Tyler Ockenga holds a purple belt earned in-house and directs the youth grappling program. Instruction emphasizes 10th Planet no-gi submission wrestling, traditional gi jiu-jitsu, and Sunday folkstyle wrestling. Youth options feature Mini Misfits for children age six and under, alongside youth no-gi classes and Tuesday night ten-round sparring sessions.
