Alan Douglas Pereira do Nascimento

Alan "Finfou" do Nascimento is the head coach of Encourage Jiu Jitsu Global, whose headquarters are in Stockholm. Born on 12 March 1982 in Rio de Janeiro, he grew up between the Jardim Catarina neighbourhood of Niterói and the Cantagalo favela, working and studying at the same time. At 13 he was invited to train by Fernando "Terere" Augusto, who ran a social project using jiu-jitsu to keep local kids away from street crime, and he quickly saw the sport as a way out. Finfou trained under Terere until 2003, reaching purple belt, and then moved to Ricardo Vieira's academy in Copacabana. Vieira awarded him his black belt in 2006. In 2005 he was contacted about teaching in Sweden and moved there to help develop jiu-jitsu in the country; he continues to teach in Sweden while travelling to give seminars around the world and to train in Brazil.
