André Fernando Alves Terêncio

André Terêncio, known as "Negão," is a black belt and co-founder of the Brazil-021 School of Jiu-Jitsu, which he leads together with Hannette Staack; he also co-owns Brazil-021 Chicago and co-founded the non-profit Brazil-021 Project. He has had a long career as a referee and tournament director, serving five years with FJJRio, the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu federation, and fifteen years as head referee of the IBJJF. He is currently head referee at Gracie Barra COMPNET Illinois and at PRIDE BJJ, where he has also organized the Chicago events since 2019. As a competitor Terêncio took bronze at the 1997 Brazilian National Championship as a purple belt, silver at the 1998 Roraima State Championship as a brown belt, and gold in the black belt Master 3 division at the 2018 IBJJF Boston Open.
