André Gomes Almeida
Andre "Dedeco" Almeida is the owner and founder of Dedeco Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the team this academy belongs to. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he started training in 1987 at 14 years old, and after eight years of Jiu-Jitsu opened his first school and team in Brazil. In 2004 he moved to the United States and started anew with Dedeco Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which has since grown into a team with affiliate schools in multiple states and overseas, including its schools in Weymouth and Pembroke, Massachusetts. Alongside teaching, Almeida is the co-founder of Origin USA, a company focused on American-made gis and training gear. The Dedeco BJJ motto is "Fighting as a Family", and the school offers programs from Little Ones (ages 3-4) through kids, youth and adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as women's-only classes and private lessons.
