Andrew McColl is the head instructor at Brampton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, where he teaches the adult program and the competition kids class. He received his black belt from Jorge Britto, head instructor of Toronto BJJ, and remains an active competitor on the IBJJF circuit. While studying psychology he wrestled for the York Lions varsity team and received the CIS All-Canadian Academic Award for combining athletics and academics. His competition results include two gold medals at the IBJJF New York Open, gold at the IBJJF Detroit, Miami, Boston and Montreal Opens and the Ontario Open, silver at the IBJJF Asia Open, bronze at the IBJJF Rio Pro and the JJIF Worlds, and a Dream superfight title. He draws on his background in athletics, grappling and psychology to tailor training to each student's abilities and goals, and several of the academy's coaches hold their belts under him.
