Bruno Apolinario Alves de Lima

Bruno Lima is the professor at Bruno Lima Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Chico, California. He grew up training in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, stepping onto the mat at fifteen in 1998, and more than twenty years later holds a third-degree black belt under Mestre Juarez Soares da Costa of Team DDR Jiu Jitsu. He began teaching by assisting Mestre Juarez with competition classes at the DDR academy and soon afterwards worked with the government teaching underprivileged kids in Rio. Lima competed at a high level for more than a decade, winning Brazilian National and Rio de Janeiro State championships and medaling at the CBJJE Pan Americans. He graduated from college in 2006 and holds master's degrees in Biomechanics and Physiology, and now has over ten years of teaching experience with students of all ages and levels.
