Coy Clements is the owner and chief instructor of Sidewinder Jiu-Jitsu in Whitewright, Texas, where he holds a 4th degree black belt. He established the academy in the summer of 2018 with the goal of building a faith-based school that offered high-level instruction at an affordable rate. The site notes that his knowledge of both jiu-jitsu culture and the business side of the sport gave him a distinct perspective: he believed the art had become too expensive for most people to enjoy, and he wanted an academy built on fellowship where entire families could afford to train. Clements also embraced the idea that the Gracies wanted their art spread to and experienced by everyone, and family and faith remain the founding principles of the school he runs.
