Darren Christopher Turner

Darren Turner is the owner of Martial Arts of Waco, which he opened in 2020 after years in the Waco martial arts community. He began martial arts in the early 1990s with traditional karate, developed an interest in grappling through catch wrestling, and transitioned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003, beginning his formal training under Professor Jerry Wall at the Academy of Waco Martial Arts. Turner has continued to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, wrestling and mixed martial arts, stepped into an active instructional role by 2015, and served as an Army Combatives instructor at Fort Hood from 2019 to 2022, working with Army personnel and cadets. He has also taught at Storm MMA and Fitness. His coaching emphasizes fundamentals, control and practical application.
