Professor Evan Ramsden is the Head Adult Jiu-Jitsu Instructor at Maverick Training Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and a second-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. He began training in 2006 under his mother, Maverick founder Suzanne Ramsden, originally intending to fight MMA before committing to Jiu-Jitsu full time in 2013. He earned his orange through brown belts under World Jiu-Jitsu Champion Helio Soneca, spent school breaks in high school and college living and training full time with World Champion Samuel Braga, and received his black belt from Andre Galvao in 2016. With more than 15 years in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, Evan has won championships at IBJJF Pro events and IBJJF Opens and in black belt superfights in both gi and no-gi. He has since promoted Maverick instructors himself, including Ed Nunn to black belt in 2025 and Nathan Ramos to brown belt in 2022.
