Fernando Alberto Ribeiro
Fernando Ribeiro is the professor behind Life Space BJJ in Hamilton. Originally from Brazil, he immigrated to New Zealand in 2017, taught himself English, started a painting and decorating business, and set about building a gym and community around jiu-jitsu. His martial arts path began in judo, in which he earned his first black belt in 2001; after a short break he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has dedicated himself to it since. He has competed in championship events around the world and received his BJJ black belt under Roney da Silva in 2019. Ribeiro says he is committed to doing good in the community and to giving people of all abilities and backgrounds the chance to experience Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
