Gustavo Muggiati

Gustavo "Gutty" Muggiati is the head instructor at Gracie Barra North Orlando and a 6th degree black belt from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began training in 1992 at Gavea Jiu-Jitsu under professors including Leao Teixeira and Helio Soneca, and on Soneca's encouragement continued at Gracie Barra under Carlos Gracie Jr. In 1998 he was awarded his black belt by Carlos Gracie Jr., Leao Teixeira and Helio Soneca. As a competitor Muggiati won state, national and world titles, including division wins at the IBJJF Masters World Championships and the South American Championships. In 1997 he moved to Curitiba as head instructor for Gracie Barra in southern Brazil, where he coached the ground game of MMA fighters such as Wanderley Silva and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. He moved to the United States in 2004 and later settled in Central Florida.
