Junior Fernandes is the owner and head instructor of Athlas Training Team in Fort Lauderdale, where he holds a fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He previously held the same role at the team's earlier Fort Lauderdale academy. Much of the academy's coaching staff came up under him: adults instructor Ryan Rogge Gaitan received her black belt from him in 2020, and kids coaches Luke Stafford and Dilano Taylor earned every belt from white through black at the Athlas Training Team Fort Lauderdale academy.
