Jorge Oliveira is the founder and head instructor of Squad Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Osceola, Florida. Born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1980, he started martial arts as a child in karate and, after time away from training, found his way to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Ricardo and Eduardo Arrivabene. He built a competitive career in Brazil that included multiple São Paulo state championships. In 2011 a serious accident damaged his spine and required surgery, but after months of rehabilitation he returned to competition and won another state title. He received his black belt in 2013 from Danny Abu of the Macaco Gold Team. Now based in Osceola, Oliveira leads Squad BJJ's adult and kids programs alongside instructors Lívia and Manuella Santos, with the aim of building a strong community and developing competitors of all ages.
