Jose Carlos de Souza Rollyson

Carlos Rollyson is the founder and head instructor of Rollyson Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Hollywood, Florida, which he opened in 2007 with his wife and co-founder Megan Rollyson. He was introduced to jiu-jitsu at age seven by his father in Teresópolis, Brazil, and at ten began formal training under Grandmaster Carlson Gracie Sr., who had established his first school there. He earned his black belt directly from Carlson Gracie in 1982 and also holds a judo black belt from 1980. In 2020 the IBJJF awarded Rollyson his 8th degree red-and-white coral belt, a rank held by only six people in the United States. With more than 40 years on the mat, he leads the academy's instruction for adults, kids, and competitors alongside black belts Megan Rollyson and Richard Hernandez.
