Joshua Sharpless is the head instructor and owner of Renzo Gracie McAllen. He moved to McAllen, Texas in 2011 as a blue belt under Chad Robichaux at Gracie Barra The Woodlands, specifically to help Tyler Bosard open what was then Gracie Barra McAllen. He began there as program director and assistant coach and, over the following years and with Bosard's support, built the school into his own academy under the Renzo Gracie banner. Sharpless received his black belt from Bosard in June 2017. His wife Karrie Jo moved to McAllen with him and handles the academy's administration, and he has since promoted Erik Sanchez, the school's program director, to black belt.
