Detailed Description

Joshua Peters is the head coach and owner of Combat Principles MMA. He began martial arts in 1988 under Sifu Dennis Brown, studying Shaolin Wushu, and in 1990 started at King Tiger Martial Arts under Sabeom-nim Kim, where he earned a 2nd degree black belt and competed in Taekwondo, karate and American kickboxing events; he also fought in Lei-tai platform fighting and Sanda. He took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2002 at the Maguilla BJJ school and is now a 3rd degree BJJ black belt under Randy Malacas of the Chute Boxe academy. Peters has fought professionally in mixed martial arts and submission grappling and had an extensive amateur career across BJJ, Muay Thai, Sanda, Sambo, kickboxing and MMA. As head coach he has trained a number of amateur and professional athletes in the DMV area, and several of the academy's instructors earned their belts under him.
