Julio Augusto Gomes Guerra
Professor Julio Guerra is the founder and head instructor of Gracie Barra West Ryde, which he opened in 2013. A 4th degree black belt and a Physical Education graduate, he began Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil in 1999 and moved to Australia in 2004 as a blue belt. He joined Gracie Barra in 2005 and spent years teaching at the Gracie Barra headquarters before establishing his own school. After years of competing around the world, Guerra now concentrates on coaching his students at West Ryde, where he leads a team that includes black belt Jun Park. He is a Gracie Barra ICP-certified instructor with First Aid certification, and students note his focus on detailed instruction such as closed guard work.
