Marco Nascimento is a 7th-degree coral belt and the professor behind Marco Nascimento BJJ, a family-owned academy in San Mateo. He began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 17 in his hometown of Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, under Pitbull headmaster Adilson Bitta Lima, earned his black belt in six and a half years and became Bitta's first black belt. Nascimento moved to the United States in 2000, taught briefly in New York, and opened his own academy in California in 2003. After an eight-year competition break he returned in 2018 with gold at Masters International Europe and Asia and the Tokyo Open. In October 2025 Bitta Lima promoted him to 7th-degree coral belt in Dubai, and he still teaches daily.
