Mario Sergio de O. Yokoyama
Mario Sergio Yokoyama is the founder and director of the myBJJ Team, the association to which myBJJ Team Japan belongs. A fifth-degree black belt, he earned his black belt under Ryan Gracie in Brazil before moving to Australia in 2004. The team traces its start to 2007, when Yokoyama began teaching in his own backyard; it is now headquartered in Sydney with affiliated clubs in Japan, New Zealand, Korea and Brazil. The association's lineage runs through Ryan Gracie, a grandson of Carlos Gracie. Under Yokoyama's direction, the myBJJ competition team has produced champions at World, Pan American, Pan Pacific, Australian and Brazilian championships, and the group runs an international association offering curriculum and instructor training to affiliated academies.
