Patrick James is the owner and head instructor of Triccs Academy, which runs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes in Dulwich, Beckenham and Peckham in south London. His first exposure to martial arts came at 14, when he studied Judo for a few years before giving it up to focus on football. Many years later he found his real passion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2011 James was introduced to Master Felipe Alves De Souza and Master Jose Henrique 'Leao' Teixeira, a 6th dan black belt under the Gracie organisation. Later that year he won gold as a white belt at the English Open BJJ championships. His biggest result came in 2014, when he took gold at the World Masters competition at the Tijuca Tennis Club in Rio de Janeiro. The academy describes him as a World Masters and European champion.
