Renato Silva is the founder and head coach of Choice Jiu-Jitsu Academy in West Harbour, Auckland. Born in Brazil, he is a 2nd degree black belt who started training BJJ at home in 2004 at the age of 17 and received his black belt in 2016 from his coach, Southside BJJ team leader Vicente Cavalcanti. Silva is a three-time New Zealand national champion and a multiple-time IBJJF medallist. With more than 20 years of training and competing internationally and ten years coaching children and adults of all levels, he teaches with a methodical, detail-focused approach aimed at delivering high-level classes in a friendly and safe environment.
