Renato Migliaccio

Black Belt

Renato Migliaccio was born on 4 May 1978 in São Paulo state, Brazil, and took up judo at eight, competing and winning junior titles. He first tried jiu-jitsu in Ribeirão Preto under Roberto Correa, who, when Migliaccio moved to the city of São Paulo, suggested Ryan Gracie's gym; he stayed there from white belt to black belt. He left Brazil in 2003, giving seminars and competing in Europe and North America, and began his MMA career with a King of the Cage win in New Mexico by choke in one minute. He has also trained in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Kyokushin karate, aikido, kali and krav maga, with a krav maga instructor certification from Israel. Now based in the United States, he teaches self-defence at California State University, Long Beach and at his Sampa BJJ academy, and visits affiliated academies in Europe, the Americas and Canada twice a year.
