Rob Handley is the owner and head coach of Absolute MMA, built on his nearly 35 years in striking and grappling martial arts. He leads the Flavio Behring Jiu Jitsu USA team and holds an IBJJF certified black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a USA Judo black belt and a Taekwondo black belt, and is a senior Muay Thai instructor. The academy describes him as the highest-ranking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner born in Utah, the first Utahn to represent the United States in international competition against Brazil, and the highest-ranking American-born student of Grand Master Flavio Behring. For nearly a decade he was contracted by the U.S. Department of Defense to teach combatives to Special Forces personnel, and he is certified through the Modern Army Combatives Program. His coaching résumé includes UFC veterans Josh Burkman and Court McGee and former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner.
