Rosendo Diaz is a 4th degree black belt under Royler Gracie and David Adiv, part of a lineage the site traces from Hélio Gracie through Royler Gracie. He has taught since 1996, has held his black belt for more than 22 years, and has spent roughly 30 years refining a jiu-jitsu built on leverage and timing rather than size or athleticism. The site describes him as an East Coast BJJ pioneer with roots in the Gracie Humaitá tradition and a member of the Royler Gracie competition team. Diaz leads Rosendo Diaz Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team, offering private and small-group lessons out of Harleysville, Pennsylvania and Cypress, Texas, and he produces instructionals, including a shield guard system. Several of his former students have gone on to become black belts and to produce black belts of their own.
