Ruben Rivera is a coach at 10th Planet Santa Fe and a 2nd degree black belt with more than 15 years of experience. He began training mixed martial arts in 2008 at the age of 21 in Santa Fe, New Mexico under Tait Fletcher, but developed a deep interest in jiu-jitsu and eventually left MMA to focus on it entirely. He earned his black belt from Eddie Bravo and Tait Fletcher in 2015. He coaches alongside his wife, Jennifer Rivera, who received her black belt from him after earning her blue and purple belts under Eddie Bravo in Los Angeles.
