Professor Ryan O'Shea is the head coach of Woodstock BJJ Academy, an IBJJF-recognised academy he founded as an extension of the Stratford BJJ programme he started in December 2013. He holds a third-degree black belt under Professor Jorge Britto, whose lineage traces to Royler Gracie and Vinicius Aieta of Gracie Tijuca, and he is a founding member of the Jiu-Jitsu For Life affiliation. O'Shea has trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu for over two decades, has competed at regional, national and international levels and continues to compete selectively. Beyond BJJ he has trained extensively in wrestling, judo and mixed martial arts and has fought professionally in MMA. As founder of both academies he oversees curriculum and instructor development through the Jiu-Jitsu for Life system, emphasising fundamentals and structured, long-term progression.
