Scott Troy Christensen

Scott Christensen is the head coach at Renzo Gracie Ponce and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. He earned his black belt under Max McGarr at Renzo Gracie Reno; McGarr in turn received his black belt from Renzo Gracie and John Danaher at the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City. Christensen's teaching emphasises structure, safety and understanding, aiming to build students' confidence through clear instruction rather than intensity or ego. He describes the jiu-jitsu he teaches as systematic, practised safely, accessible to beginners and challenging without being overwhelming, with the goal of developing capable, thoughtful grapplers both on and off the mats.
