Black Belt
Shawn McGinnis is a 3rd degree black belt Professor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at McGinnis Academy of Martial Arts, the Carlson Gracie Team affiliate in Gastonia, North Carolina. He began BJJ in 1998 with Luis "Sucuri" Togno and trained locally with Paulino Mushu before earning his black belt from Carlson Gracie Jr. in 2014 and his 3rd degree in 2023. He also holds a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 4th degree in Hapkido under Grandmaster J. Pellegrini.
