Thiago Rela leads TRA (The Relentless Art) Jiu Jitsu Academy, with locations in Jersey City, Bayonne and Bloomfield, New Jersey. Born in Itatiba, Brazil, he started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at TT Academy at 14 and received his black belt at 23 from Juliano Belgine and Leo Vieira of Team Checkmat; Renzo Gracie awarded him his first degree in 2017. He is a two-time state champion in Brazil and a national champion in both gi and no-gi, and was a member of the Brazilian national championship team. Rela also competes as a professional mixed martial artist representing Team Renzo Gracie. He won the middleweight title of Circuito Talent MMA in Brazil and has appeared on The Ultimate Fighter and for promotions including Xtreme Fighting Championships, Cage Fury Fighting Championships and Bellator.
