Vincent Angelo Carlucci
Professor Vincent Carlucci, a Gracie Barra black belt, founded Team-Choco in 2004. Having moved from Germany to Naval Base Rota in Spain, he was determined to get back on the mats despite injuries, but found no Brazilian jiu-jitsu school within a hundred miles. His answer was to post flyers at the base gym inviting people to train with him. None of the people who responded had trained BJJ before, yet under his guidance they formed the tight-knit group that became the foundation of Team-Choco. Within a year the team was competing at the Spanish Nationals, the British Open, a Finnish submission wrestling championship and the European Championships, and as members relocated over the years they opened academies in Europe, Africa, Costa Rica and the United States.
