Playground Jiu Jitsu is situated at 3350 Pawtucket Ave #E in East Providence, Rhode Island. Established in 2019, the academy provides over 1,800 square feet of mat space equipped with full locker rooms and showers, centering its programming entirely on the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Brothers Paulo and Vinícius Canabarro founded the school and teach daily classes. Both began training in 2009, competed on the IBJJF circuit, and received their black belts in January 2017 under Tim Burrill and Master Carlos Machado, preserving a direct lineage to the roots of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Class groupings include PeeWee for ages 4 to 8, Juniors for ages 9 to 12, and Teens for ages 13 to 17, alongside three adult instructional levels from beginners to advanced students. The academy also hosts a weekly Saturday open mat session open to all participants without membership obligations.
