Paulo Canabarro is a black belt instructor at Playground Jiu Jitsu in East Providence, Rhode Island, the academy he built with his brother Vinícius. The brothers started training in 2009 and earned their black belts in January 2017 under Tim Burrill and Master Carlos Machado, placing them in a lineage that runs from Carlos Gracie through Carlos Gracie Jr. and Carlos Machado to Burrill, the first to bring jiu-jitsu to Rhode Island. Before opening Playground in 2019 they spent years competing on the IBJJF circuit, and both are on the mat teaching every session.
